Okay...I have officially made this recipe twice already in the last 4 days....I need to share it so I can too lure you to the dark side....
I was reminded of this recipe via Soulemama last week in one of her posts. The recipe is from the book "A Homemade Life" by Molly Wizenberg....LOVE this book. It was my first recipe/novel book that I have ever read and I really enjoyed it a lot : ). The actual recipe can be found here on her blog.
...and so the holiday season has started here in full swing. I am always a bit early to the party mainly because I have to be early with sending away gifts to Europe (my intention each year is that they will actually get there in time for Christmas....ummmm....ya....that does not happen often). I do have very good intentions though. I should mention that I am cheap and send them by surface mail....unless I am super behind...then I spring for airmail....and leave the post office very depressed (probably because I just sustained a terrible hit to my wallet AND the packages will more then likely STILL not make it on time). 'Tis the season.
This year (as every year...but this is THE year it WILL happen) we decided to make sure we stick to a somewhat budget. We have been building up to less and less "stuff" each holiday season (birthdays too) because we really want to take the focus away from "stuff" for our child. We want the holidays to be about good food, good fun, family, friends, and lastly about gifts. We still want to include gift giving...just focus on less...and more homemade too. I mean really, as Felix gets older he will be making his gifts and I don't want him to feel that he is the only one making handmade things. We want it to become a family thing....everyone making something....anything! : )
We have a few items for him to tear open this year....wooden alphabet blocks, two fairytale books, a wooden puzzle, & little squirt bath toys (which look like they will be super fun). For his stocking we found all natural vanilla animal crackers....we shall see if he likes them....they are welcome in my tummy if he does not : ).
Going back to the homemade/craft ting too....I have been trying to be smart about this and have been heading to craft stores after certain holidays to stock up on 75% off seasonal craft supplies. I am trying to slowly build up a pretty good arsenal of craft supplies for when Felix is a bit older. This way the cost is not overwhelming at all and there will always be LOTS of craft stuff ready for creating with! (I am patting myself on the back right now...okay, fine...I am just eating a chocolate bar....but you get the idea).
